In this special Office Hours webinar, you’ll hear how the Schwartz Rounds team at UVA planned and facilitated a Schwartz Rounds session in the aftermath of the violence in Charlottesville in August 2017, and how it helped hospital staff process their experiences as individuals and as a community. This webinar was moderated by Beth Lown, MD, the Schwartz Center’s Medical Director, who led a series of Schwartz Rounds at Boston-area hospitals in 2013 and 2014 in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing.
In 2017, as the effects of opioid use devastate our communities and overwhelm our healthcare systems, the Schwartz Center invited our members to join a special, nationwide Schwartz Rounds conversation that would provide caregivers with a safe and structured forum to discuss the emotional and psychological impact of caring for patients and families affected by this crisis. More than 100 of our members participated. During this webinar Schwartz Center Medical Director Beth Lown, MD, will report on the findings from those 100-plus Schwartz Rounds, and participants will have an opportunity to ask questions or share their own experiences.
