Dear friends,
This month marks the one-year anniversary of the coronavirus entering our communities. This unprecedented public health crisis has impacted every aspect of daily life, but the toll on healthcare professionals has been particularly immense. Faced with grave physical risks and emotional demands, healthcare professionals sprang into action and have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and personal sacrifice to providing compassionate care. Front-line caregivers have treated and supported seriously ill patients, who have been isolated from their worried families. Many have become ill themselves. Tragically, thousands of healthcare workers have lost their lives to the virus, as memorialized here.
All caregivers remain at significant risk for psychological distress and need crucial emotional support. Our healthcare members have shared how their colleagues have helped sustain them during this incredibly difficult year. The past 12 months have highlighted just how critically important mental health support is for caregivers.
We are deeply grateful to our healthcare member community for their dedication to compassionate care in the face of this crisis, and to our loyal donors and partners for enabling us to provide and disseminate urgently needed resources.
Looking to the future, we remain committed to supporting caregivers during and in the aftermath of this life-altering pandemic and to advancing compassion and equity in healthcare. Our work has never been more important, and the impact of your support has never been more meaningful.
Thank you for your partnership in helping to create a world where all who seek and provide care experience compassion. We know you share our common mission of putting compassion at the heart of healthcare.
