Joanne Maxwell, PhD (c), MSc, BScOT, OT Reg. (Ont.), BSc, PMP, CHE Senior Director Collaborative Practice, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Joanne has held a number of operations leadership and change management roles in healthcare over her 20-year career. Joanne is currently senior director for collaborative practice at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Maxwell oversees the professional and interprofessional practice needs of the health disciplines (with the exception of physicians and nursing). Maxwell has an interest in technology to support care and led the successful implementation of Holland Bloorview’s consumer health portal, connect2care, which allows clients and families online access to their health information and supports their engagement in care. Maxwell has a clinical background in occupational therapy, is a certified project management professional, and is actively involved in clinical research with a focus on healthcare transitions and the impact of healthcare portals on client engagement, and on clinician documentation practices. Maxwell has status appointments as a clinical team investigator with the Bloorview Research Institute, and as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Toronto in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and has recently started a PhD at U of T’s Institute for Health Policy Management and Evaluation. Maxwell has also attained the Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation through the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Maxwell brings recent volunteer Board experience, and is an avid squash player and an IronMan triathlon finisher.
